 Slot Car Racing Basics

How do I Drive faster?

Most people agree the difference between a good driver and an average one is their ability to constantly adjust the speed of the car. Speeding up and down the straights and slowing down at the corners. Most beginners vary their speed very little from straight to bend. To post the best laps follow these tips:

1.    Accelerate down the straights.

2.    Reduce your speed for a bend as late as possible, though remember it does take some distance to slow down before the bend as the cars does not have brakes.

3.    When on the inside of a bend (or on the outside if you have the extra runoff sections) take advantage of the extra runoff, and accelerate harder. The car will swing out but it shouldn't come out of the groove.

4.    Build up a rhythm. Start off slower building up your speed. Remember the race is not won on the first lap.

Rules

There are many rules to Slot Car racing especially when competing in competitions. But when racing with a friend the rules are up to you. Below are a list of basic rules that you can adopt:

1.    1st person to finish the race wins.

2.    1st person to come off the track loses. Replacing your car on the track is often not allowed in competitions.

3.    Knocking off your opponent is/isn't allowed. You will find it easy to knock off an opponent if you are on the inside lane. It is also possible at crossovers sections.

4.    How many laps are to be completed, and how many times can you replace your car? Two times?
