Scalextric
Classic
This is the oldest Scalextric
track system which features the old horrible connection method that made
setting up take ages. It also features 6 lane running. Some parts of this
system are still available new. This track system has an extensive range of
track sections and due to Scalextric forward thinking is compatible with the
newer systems with the use of a conversion section of track. The new power
section, the RMS and the lap counters all come with conversion sections to
make them compatible with either the classic or the sport system. This
system even includes banked corners, although I found them difficult to use
due to the speed required to keep the car up the banking.
Scalextric
Sport
This system features an easer
connection method and 8 lane running. As mentioned it is completely
compatible with the old system with the use of a conversion section. New
features include a crossover bend, a hair pin turn and jump ramps.
Scalextric
Sport Digital
This is the latest offering for
Scalextric. A fully digital race control system. you can drive up to six
cars on one lane using brand new ultra responsive hand throttles with button
breaking. This system is fully compatible with existing Scalextric Smooth
digital power control and Scalextric sport track (and classic I think with
conversion sections). You can choose from 7 different styles of racing. The
introduction of cross over sections allows you to change lanes. This system
uses an all new Optical System Technology. Most cars can be made digitally
compatible with Six different digital cars available initially. (as
described by Scalextric)
